Parallel SBAS DInSAR algorithm integration within distributed computing environments

The aim of the talk is to present the integration of the Parallel Small BAseline Subset (P-SBAS) algorithm within both the ESA’s Grid Processing on Demand (G-POD) environment and the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing platform. The P-SBAS algorithm is a well-known Differential SAR Interferometry (DInSAR) technique that is able to generate Earth surface deformation maps with centimeter to millimeter accuracy. The ESA G-POD environment is, instead, a distributed computing architecture constituted by different subsystems, such as a GRID computing infrastructure, web portal and satellite data catalogue while the AWS is the public cloud service provided by Amazon. The goal of P-SBA integration within these two distributed computing environments is to set up a flexible service that is addressed to the worldwide scientific community to automatically generate displacement time series by extensively exploiting the vast ESA’s SAR data archives. The provision of this service will enhance the comprehension of the earth surface deformation dynamics at global scale and will open a path to novel and challenging research scenarios.
