Andreas Hellerschmied started to study "Geodesy and Geoinformation" at Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien) in 2008 and finished his Bachelor's degree in 2012. In the course of his master studies ("Geodesy and Geophysics" at TU Wien) he spent three months at the Geodetic Observatory Wettzell (Bavaria, Germany) where he became acquainted with various space-geodetic techniques (SLR, VLBI, GNSS, DORIS) and the (absolute) gravimetry.
After he graduated with honors in 2014 he started to work as University Assistent at the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation at TU Wien in the research area Higher Geodesy (head: Prof. Dr. Johannes Böhm). His primary field of work is VLBI, with a special focus on operational data anylysis, and the development of the Vienna VLBI and Satellite Software (VieVS) which he administrates since 2014.
In 2015 Andreas Hellerschmies started hie PhD studies (Doctoral programme in Engineering Sciences at TU Wien), investigating VLBI obserbations of artificial satellite signals.
