Biography
Michael Schindelegger is a post-doctoral researcher working in the field of Earth rotation and geophysical fluid dynamics. His PhD thesis - defended in 2014 - dealt with atmosphere-induced variations in polar motion and changes in length-of-day with an emphasis on the equivalence of the two available dynamical modeling approaches, using either angular momentum or torque quantities. Since then, he has broadened his interests and capabilities to numerical ocean modeling on short time scales, focusing in particular on the small "meteorological" S1 ocean tide that is forced by atmospheric pressure loading. Michael Schindelegger is currently leading the small working group "Interactions in System Earth" at the research group of Advanced Geodesy.
