Biography

Bernhard Bauer-Marschallinger received his doctoral degree in Geodesy and Geoinformation from the TU Wien in 2018. As part of the TU Wien Remote Sensing Research Group, he has been involved in projects from ESA, EU, Copernicus Global Land Services (CGLS) and Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), mainly working on the exploitation of satellite data and the development of operational processing software for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) observations. The retrieval of the geophysical variables like soil moisture is in the focus of his research, as well as vegetation density and water bodies. Most recently, he researches on the fusion of radar observations from different spatial and temporal scales in order to obtain soil moisture information at high spatio-temporal resolution, aiming for algorithms that can operate in near-real-time.
